For once, MMKB wasn't really all that helpful.

So now we turn to you!

Normally I would suggest the Air Shooter for the Terrible Kangaroo Dinosaur Met, as it is the Terrible Kangaroo Dinosaur Robot's weakness. However, as you cannot use Air Shooter, I guess I suggest Dust Crusher? It has more range then Ring Boomerang, and it says that Dust and Ring are its weaknesses. He must be giving you hard time if you're ASKING for spoilers.

In my Let's Play, I beat the Met Daddy by using the Dust Crusher and sticking close to it. The moment it started to jump, I would slide under it, and more or less hope a Met didn't land on me. By shooting the Dust Crusher, I would get two hits before it jumped and one afterwards, and while I got hit a lot, it was usually because a Met landed on me or I wasn't close enough to the Met Daddy when I began my slide. So that's my advice.

Reply Fighter Dee, May 15th, 2015, 12:52 pm

I have no startegy, normally I just shoot him with the charged buster until he dies.

@Ultimate Yoshi: Nice avatar.

@Napo, Unlaunched Cannon: No, can't charge.

Reply Goku521, May 15th, 2015, 12:10 pm

My stragety is this Use Ring Boomerang. As soon as his head opens up, fire as many as possible. When he jumps, slide immediately. Slide to the end that is further away from you, also make sure to stand a little close to him. Sometimes, he'll do a mini jump. You don't need to slide for that one, but I'm not sure if you can tell if he does a big one or a little one. If you run out, use Dust Crusher. If you run out of that too, use the Mega Buster. Charge while it's hiding, fire when opens and then keep firing normal shots until it jumps.

Oh, and I took a look at the weapons themselves. Ring and Dust both do 2 damage.

Reply Extremmefan, May 15th, 2015, 12:17 pm

I suggest any of the above (including Ulti's strategy). (One of them must have worked for me... Or I just got lucked against this boss when playing the game).

Reply Shadow_Da_Hedgie, May 15th, 2015, 12:26 pm

I think he does jump to where you are. To an extent. Basically you're meant to lure his jumps so you can safely slide under them. The met's he summons when he jumps land in semi-random locations though, so don't count on trying to dodge those. I think the Ring boomerang does more damage, but it might be better to use the Mega Buster or the Dust Crasher, because I think you can fire those more rapidly? But I generally use the Ring Boomerang and just open up on him. Heck, it might be a good idea to stand closer to him, and slide away from him when he tries to jump on you.

So basically, stay close to him, spam Ring Boomerang on him when he's vulernable, and slide away from him when he tries to jump on you. Luckily, the mets he summons will die to just one Ring Boomerang so they're easy enough to take out.

Do keep in mind it has been a while since I played Mega Man 4, so I might be remembering some things wrong.

Reply Retro Pikachu, May 15th, 2015, 12:29 pm

Stay close to it. Once it begins to jump, try to slide out of the way. Charge up a charge shot before you enter the boss room for an extra hit. Also, I found the data damage chart here:

Pharoah Shot and the Charged Shot do more damage in one shot, but remember that Ring Boomerang and Dust Crusher hit the boss twice. Still, Keeping a Pharaoh Shot charged might hit Metall Daddy when he's jumping.

Reply Da Tico, May 15th, 2015, 12:31 pm

get good

Reply Napo, Unlaunched Cannon, May 15th, 2015, 12:31 pm

If the Mets he summons can be affected by Bright, you can just use that to focus only on the daddy. You'll still be able to attack semi normally (I don't think you can charge).

Focus on shooting and dodging Met Daddy. In other words...

Bright Mojo.

If you need an active base to frame on, here's a good frame of reference:

Reply TheAdvisor (Guest), May 15th, 2015, 4:04 pm

When I played, I just sticked close to him and hit him with ring boomerang between his invincibility frames. When he jumped, I spammed slide (hold down and press the a button input repeatedly). When there's a met about to fall on me, I would walk towards the outer side of the met and ring boomerang it so that it would also hit the met daddy at the same time.

Or you can use save states.

After searching through youtube, here is a few videos on the Metool Daddy. I hope they help. (Perfect run Buster Only on the boss)
(Another great run of the boss, worth checking out, and it shows how much weapons do to it.)

Reply WhiteFangofWar (Guest), May 15th, 2015, 4:40 pm

Where is Metall Mommy Oh, come on. Hard Man killed you 20+ times and you didn't ask for help then. He's about as interesting a boss as this one too.

I find Ring works better than Dust. More importantly, slide under when he's jumping, then jump to avoid the stun. Sure some of the time you'll might get hit by a falling Met, but compare damage from a Met to being hit by the big one. I think Ring does 3, and you can hit him with it 3 times or more before being cornered if your timing is good.

Reply Djoing, May 15th, 2015, 5:07 pm

The difference between Hard Man and this boss is that Hard Man gave us the time to try things.

Reply Crash guy, May 15th, 2015, 4:55 pm

Shoot when he opens, then jump, slide under him or shoot when he opens if you have a lot of space, slide under him, repeat.

I think you should do MOJO a chance. Spam even not in his direction will help you take care of mets. Or you could do... it about 8 times till you will have luck.

To be honest, I have never used any weapons on him. I usually treated him as usual met. Most of time it worked.

Reply DeeBert (Guest), May 15th, 2015, 6:22 pm

Out of curiosity, I typed in the same phrase you typed in, and none of those results you have don't appear to me (I'm using Firefox, with Google as my search engine).

Though, really? There is a lot of bosses that took you 20+ deaths, and you've never asked for help, at ALL. Though, I recommend some of those above strategies (espcially Ultimate Yoshi's).

@Extremmefan: Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks Greninja is good?

Reply ForestFire, May 15th, 2015, 9:57 pm

@DeeBert: I am quite glad that you only think of Greninja as "good" rather than some of his fans that think of him as "God".

Okay that might be an exaggeration but still

Reply Extremmefan, May 16th, 2015, 8:09 am

@DeeBert: I actually hate Greninja, but if you think he's simply "good", then I'm ok with it. (Why? Because you're not overreacting and calling him "perfect", "god", "the best", etc...)

@ForestFire: It's not really an exaggeration, some of his fans really DO call him "God".

Also, The only things I think was wrong with Greninja are:
- The fact that he, alongside a lot of other gen 6 pokemons, is too easy to identify what he's based on (ninjas and frogs, duh!)
- The fact that he's in Smash even when all the Pokemon generations that comes after the 4th one are supposed to be irrelevant (considering they're on handhelds of the same name: DS, DSi and 3DS for gen 4, 5 and 6 respectively).

Edit: subtle references:
- "Why is Mega Man Legends Roll here?" This is said by Djoing on the Google research's results
- "All you helpful people can have a party" This is said by Mad while Djoing has a party hat on his head
- "No! Let's press on" This is said by Mad. I think this is the corresponding music:

Reply ForestFire, May 16th, 2015, 10:49 am

@Extremmefan: Wow. I guess I was wrong. Greninja is much more overrated than I thought. Personally, I think that Greninja is one of the better water starters thanks to Protein, but it doesn't deserve all the worship it gets.

Reply leo_dragon_knight, May 15th, 2015, 6:42 pm

The only advice I can give is to try to lure him in one way then slide and jump the other.

Well, if all advice fails, there is the RoahmMythril way.

Reply hitkid96fan, May 15th, 2015, 10:53 pm

Well I decided to re-fight the Metall Daddy for you guys. Here's some tips, as Ulti seems to have a good strategy.

1. Learn the timing of the jumps.
2. If you seem to have a Met ahead of you, just spam the Mega Buster, don't bother shooting the others if they're behind you or on the other side.
3. Don't get too close to the Metall Daddy when it's about to jump, getting crushed is almost unavoidable and it will require some good timing.
4. Part of this battle is luck thanks to the positions of the mets and where you are going to be to avoid getting jumped on.
5. Both Ring and Dust do about the same damage, use whatever you're better at.
6. Bright can mess you up, it will cause you to be unfrozen before the mets come but it will cause the Metall Daddy to start jumping again while the Mets are on the ground. Oh yeah and don't spam it as the Metall Daddy is unaffected and can spawn more Mets even when the first four are still in the air.
7. Spamming might not work with Dust, although I tested Ring and it kind of works.

That is all I got for you guys. Best of luck.

I remember literally doing what you've already tried; slide under it, turn around and fire a charged shot.

Reply Arcict Gray, May 16th, 2015, 9:50 am

Risking spoilers but yeah, also I'm not reading what anybody else posted, just what I do.

So one think I noticed is that the little mets do way less damage than the big guy, if you can avoid the big guy but get hit by the little ones, it'll not only activate the temporary invulnerability but also unfreeze from the.. er, freeze.

Also, megabuster will remain charged after getting hurt, that means that if you're keeping a charge and get hit, keep it until DM is vulnerable again (or just hit with your chosen weapon).

I keep close and then slide away (not under), why? Because he makes shorter jumps when you're close to him. That's another reason to get hit by the little mets, it gives you a very brief moment to slide THROUGH dm and get to the other side for very little damage.

This battle, when I do it, I do it against my hacked super-health (but no change to the AI) DM, as such, the only way for me to out-last him is to use an energy tank. Since you're facing a regular DM, I'd suggest using my old strategy against Cutman, die, respawn with full health, then use a regular pattern to defeat him. In this case, if you face DM with less than full health, the odds aren't very good.

That's all I can think of right now, to my knowledge the mets that spawn never leave any power-ups so you can't farm them.

Both Ring and Dust do 2 damage on it.

Reply bluefiredragon, May 16th, 2015, 1:57 pm

@Djoing: Ring is your best choice.

Reply HyperTurtle32, May 16th, 2015, 2:58 pm

The best advice I can give is to be patient.

I believe I used ring, but dust should have more range.

Reply DarkCore, May 18th, 2015, 6:22 am

RoahmMythril. He did the MM4 fortress stages a while back, and he usually comes up with good information on how the boss functions.

Here's my strategy:take ewery shot you can,and only dodge by sliding away from him,but don't get cornered (also keep in mind l needed a E-tank to success)

Reply MegamanSonic (Guest), March 18th, 2017, 1:28 pm

Here's some damage data: I found this on another informational Mega Man site called Mega Man Home Page.

Both the Mega Buster and the Pharaoh Shot deal 1 damage uncharged and 3 damage fully charged.
The Ring Boomerang and Dust Crusher both do 2 damage. And every other weapon except for Wire Adapter does nothing.
Your best bet is to only use fully charged Mega Busters or Pharaoh Shots.
In case you're wondering, Wire Adapter does 1 damage.

Reply Extremmefan, October 22nd, 2018, 2:36 pm

"Can you check the damage list?"
"There's none"
Actually there is, it's just spoiler territory due to having ALL of the game's bosses on it.
… I do have a link to a version I've cropped myself that only includes bosses up to the Met Daddy (including the Met), though. Should I?
