I only decided on that being the death name because I like pronouncing it.

As for the boss, it is dumb. Generally, scaling up a regular enemy isn't the most interesting of bosses.
Minish Cap is the only game I can recall playing where they did it rather well.

They really splashed out with the animation budget on this boss.

So hey, remember that Mega Goomba thing in World 4, New Super Mario Bros. the first? Good times.

Reply Djoing, April 29th, 2015, 12:27 pm

@Napo, Unlaunched Cannon:
You mean the easiest boss in the game?
Sure.

Reply Shadow_Da_Hedgie, April 29th, 2015, 12:46 pm

@Djoing: Hey now, that's kind of unfair.

...all the bosses in NSMB1 were easy as shit.

Reply ForestFire, April 29th, 2015, 2:18 pm

@Djoing: Man, now I feel all nostalgic. Say, have you finished remaking the Wood Man pages yet?

@Extremmefan: The Luigi's Mansion design is much better. But they use the lame, boring design much more often for reasons unknown.

Reply Djoing, April 29th, 2015, 2:31 pm

@ForestFire:
Yes I have, actually. Thanks for reminding me.

Reply Extremmefan, April 29th, 2015, 3:48 pm

@ForestFire: Will it DOES look better, it makes him look more ugly for some reason too (and a bit too dark to my taste... because if Boos looks so cute, why would their king looks so dark? It makes zero sense!).

Reply Djoing, April 29th, 2015, 3:57 pm

@Extremmefan:
Actually, it wasn;t until Dark Moon that King Boo turned so dark. He was still pretty cute in the first Luigi's Mansion.

Reply ForestFire, April 29th, 2015, 6:19 pm

@Djoing and @Extremmefan: Inb4 we have a massive Luigi's Mansion conversation that will get deleted due to length and pointlessness

@Djoing: And you're very welcome sir. As Mega Man 2 is my favorite Mega Man game it saddens me that it's taking so long to remake.

Two page 4's?

Reply The_mad_one, April 29th, 2015, 12:55 pm

@Goku543: Fixed, thanks for the heads-up.

Reply Cheese (Guest), April 29th, 2015, 1:29 pm

Yoshi island did that a hole lot to.

Reply MasterTalon, April 29th, 2015, 1:40 pm

Those Met eyes...soulless...uncaring... It desires your soul! It feeds upon it...

Reply MasterTalon, April 29th, 2015, 1:41 pm

@Djoing: Ugh, I hated when the second Castlevania on Gameboy Advance did that. Most of the bosses were just scaled up. Uuuuugh.

Reply Luigi_96, April 29th, 2015, 1:48 pm

*insert met joke here*

Reply Extremmefan, April 29th, 2015, 1:53 pm

A LOT OF VIDEO GAME BOSSES/VILLAINS(?) ARE SCALED UP VERSIONS OF NORMAL MINIONS! (Just look at King Boo, he's just a even more scaled up Big Boo with a crown... and Big Boos are already scaled up versions of Boos...)

Reply Kebi_in_your_pants, April 29th, 2015, 2:16 pm

Wily sure did put all his effort into this slightly above average sized met. I am not surprised Mega Man (or in this case Mad) died to him.

Reply Djoing, April 29th, 2015, 2:32 pm

@Pharaoh Man:
I have to admit that one kind of slipped my mind when I was writing that.

Reply Bt Man-Shadowy Hero From 200X, April 29th, 2015, 2:46 pm

~It's the King of all Mets!
~The biggest challenge yet!
~You may try to slide,
~(Trust me, they all tried)
~But with no chance,
~Struck stronger than a lance,
~It's King of all Mets!
~The biggest challenge yet!

(...Yes, I brought back these things. Deal with it.)

Reply leo_dragon_knight, April 29th, 2015, 4:55 pm

Usually and upscaled enemy is a decent Miniboss, but not a full on boss.

Reply hitkid96fan, April 29th, 2015, 5:40 pm

Well that was a good guess. Than again, almost everything here was Mets. We might as well have a Met Spike to finish the look of the stage.

Reply Rotomslashblast, April 29th, 2015, 8:25 pm

Guess the art direction was still out of commission at the time. And Harold.

Reply Koopario, April 29th, 2015, 8:27 pm

Okay, Harold must've been fired at this point.

Reply ForestFire, April 29th, 2015, 10:44 pm

@Koopario: Perhaps not. "Are you sure that kids today like unoriginal bosses, Harold?" "Of course, boss. I was a kid once, wasn't I?"

Harold was probably the kid that everyone made fun of. And then he got revenge by tormenting their children.

Yeah, I didn't want to mention the boss for fear of spoiler-deletion but... yeah. There are a few... tricks, I won't go into them, but mostly, this boss is just hard, not because he's hard to understand, but because he's so SIMPLE!

The "upgraded enemy" is a cheap trick but if done right... Yoshi's Island did it a couple of times IIRC, once magic-dude shrinks yoshi and a minor enemy EATS him and Yoshi has to fight his way out. Another time magic-dude upgrades a potted plant (there's a cheat where if you throw an egg right as you enter the room, you can kill the enemy before the upgrade, AND IT WORKS!) In both senses though, it's more than just "make him bigger" the attack style actually changes.

Then again, if this was just a "make my monster grow" then wouldn't the giant met be shooting at you as well?

Reply ForestFire, April 30th, 2015, 10:49 am

@Arcict Gray: "magic dude"'s name is Kamek. And yes this boss is rather lame.
