This boss is called a Whopper.
or 'Spring King', according to Nintendo Power.

Both of those names aren't very suited for the boss, IMO.
Let's call it 'Bo Ring'.

What this page can't show you, is that it retracts his rings pretty much immediately. So immediate, that I wasn't even aware that the red things were eyes until now. Most of the attempted shots get deflected simply because the moment during which you can hit it is extremely short.

The Wapper is nothing compared to Hippo Platter. Hippo Platter is stupid and annoying, Wapper is rather easy once you know how he works.
