Top spin seems to be rather extreme.

Reply Metal (Guest), June 13th, 2011, 12:34 pm

Ah, but who will top the top spin?

Reply baconlord, June 13th, 2011, 12:44 pm

seems like we have top men working on defeating wily.
TOP.
MEN.

Reply HyperTurtle32, June 13th, 2011, 12:46 pm

@metal Nothing tops the top spin because it's at the top.

Reply Xavier the Fox, June 13th, 2011, 12:57 pm

GET TO THE TOPPA!!!

Reply Striffen Cloud, June 13th, 2011, 1:12 pm

Why are we still doing "Top" puns? The current master was MADE to be ridiculed. Absolutely MADE to be. It's his only reason for existance.

Reply Delta&Tilly, June 13th, 2011, 1:35 pm

Who name the bosses!!!

Reply Luxbot, June 13th, 2011, 1:38 pm

Did mad do part of Hardman: Page 4?

Reply Pyrowall, June 13th, 2011, 4:56 pm

Top spin doing somethign useful aside from the usual.

It's top class.

Reply Kirbysmith [DJ], June 13th, 2011, 5:36 pm

Top Spin's actually useful?!?! O.o
Every time I use it, I get hurt.

Reply pat15, June 13th, 2011, 6:08 pm

^ That's the hint that you're doing it wrong, you don't just ram into a guy. Unfortunately, I still haven't found the right way

Reply masterof16-bit, June 14th, 2011, 2:19 am

the way to do it is to either:
a. top spin beside the opponent
b. jump, do top spin, and land on the opponent

Reply Djoing, June 14th, 2011, 6:48 am

Or you do it during invincibility frames.

which is probably what happened here.

Reply dark the hedgehog (Guest), June 14th, 2011, 7:16 am

its very HARD to make TOP puns
:D

Reply Pat-Man12, June 14th, 2011, 8:06 am

Those monkeys are hard. Yeah, nothing else is required to make fun of that robot master.

Just out of curiosity What program do you guys use?

Reply Djoing, June 14th, 2011, 11:23 am

That is answered in the FAQ.

Reply Luxbot, June 16th, 2011, 7:22 am

Question What program do you use to make the diagonal sprites? Whenever I try it turns out blurry.

Reply The_mad_one, June 16th, 2011, 9:00 am

@ Luxbot: We rotate with Powerpoint. Ours do turn blurry, though we usually hide that with effects (generally afterimages or making everything blurry and distorted(such as the close-ups of Doom Cat)) or picking an angle and position at which the blur isn't as noticeable (like panel 6 on this page).

The only non-blurry alternative we sometimes use is rotating the sprite in Powerpoint, copying it to paint and making a new sprite with the blurry rotated sprite as an example. We really only do that on small sprites (such as the crash bombs or our arms) that are used a lot.

Turning 90°, 180° and 270° can be done in Paint. For some reason Powerpoint occasionally blurs in those rotations as well.

In fact, Powerpoint very quickly blurs stuff for no reason, so most rotating, mirroring, resizing and skewing actions are best done on Paint.

Reply Luxbot, June 17th, 2011, 1:37 pm

^Oh.. I tried doing something once, I rotated it in Paint.net, it was blurry. I took the base sprite, and used the color pallete to make the blurred colors back to normal.
